Aida is an Ethiopian princess living as a prisoner of war. She loves Radamès, the Egyptian military commander, who is actually her enemy and is set to marry the Egyptian princess Amneris. Yet Radamès loves Aida. Their young love becomes a pawn in the ruthless power politics of a entrenched political system – and ends in tragedy. With Verdi’s fascinating masterpiece, directed by Ben Baur, Konzert und Theater St. Gallen is staging the festival in-house this time.
