Guglielmo and Ferrando are outraged, as they are absolutely certain of the fidelity of their partners, Fiordiligi and Dorabella. The young men recklessly agree to a wager, with precarious consequences. In his dramma giocoso, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart masterfully subverts this dubious test of fidelity and paints a psychological portrait that reveals a dizzying rollercoaster of emotions, oscillating between deception and self-deception. Director and artistic director Barbara-David Brüesch transports Mozart’s bitter “School for Lovers” into the present day and examines it in light of the seemingly endless possibilities of our world of relationships and love.
