What is “good fabric”? The Textile Museum St. Gallen frames this question in three sensory theses: Good fabric helps in all situations, fosters creativity, and sells worldwide.

The permanent exhibition invites visitors on a journey of discovery through captivating objects—ranging from glamorous stage costumes to informative swatch books and practical climbing ropes. Here, “good fabric” can be experienced with all the senses: Historical film footage takes visitors inside a Thurgau cotton mill, and women who lived through that era reveal their sources of creative inspiration in interviews; visitors can feel textile raw materials and working techniques firsthand; and visitors of all ages are invited to the drawing table to design their own fabrics and garments.
