JAZZ | For over 30 years, Blue Exercise has stood for lively, creative jazz music – uncompromisingly unique, stylistically free and full of curiosity. What began as a classic trio developed into a journey of sonic discovery: energetic grooves, breathing soundscapes and a saxophone that sometimes sings crystal clear, sometimes rebels expressively. Composition and improvisation flow seamlessly into one another – a sound that defies categorisation and yet remains unmistakable. Since 2025, St. Gallen bassist Roland Hofer has been bringing a breath of fresh air and new impetus to the trio as a permanent member. Blue Exercise stands for sonic curiosity, for musical freedom beyond all genres – and for a musical connection that has grown over decades.
