Carmen Souza has already reinterpreted three songs by Horace Silver on her 8 albums released so far, with "Song for my Father", "Cape Verdean Blues" and "Pretty Eyes". Especially "Song for my Father" is one of the most popular songs of the singer who now lives in London. It was therefore foreseeable that her ninth album "The Silver Messenger" would now be completely dedicated to the work of the American jazz musician and composer. Carmen's connection with Horace Silver goes beyond the purely artistic. They both carry the Cape Verdean heritage of their families within them and both mix this heritage with elements of jazz in different ways.
